Krimml water falls
Experience Europe’s largest waterfalls with their amazing deluge of water plunging down and creating an impressing rush. The Krimml Waterfalls are 380m high and one of the highest waterfalls in the world. They are Austria’s only natural landmark which is certified with the nature protection diploma of the Council of Europe. A trail leads you directly to the waterfalls, where you can feel the refreshing spray mist and the impressing power of the water. Surrounded by wonderful mountain scenery, the waterfalls delight thousands of people every year and create memorable moments.
Krimml Worlds of Water
The newly opened WasserWunderWelt in Krimml ist a perfect starting point to the natural spectacle of the impressive Krimml Waterfalls. The theme park is a comprehensive, unique array of interactive experiences revolving around the whole theme of water.
Alpine open dairy Zillertal
The guests can see at first hand how the freshly milked unprocessed milk is turned into fresh, butter and sour milk, whipping cream, quark, butter and cheese. The Open Dairy opened its portals for the first time in June 2000.
Zillertal High Alpine Road
The “Zillertal High Alpine Road”, with a length of 48 km, is one of the most beautiful alpine roads in Austria and
- offers all visitors a magnificent drive up to an altitude of 2,020 m, either with your own car, coach, local bus or even by bike (toll fee for motor vehicles)
- provides an impression of the beautiful panorama of the Zillertal Alps

Adventure gold mining and local cheese dairy museum
Take part in adventures of former centuries. Feel the life inside the mountain und catch a glimpse of the history of 350 years of a nearly forgotten branch of economy, an impressive multi-media-presentation will give you an idea. The excursion starts at the cheese-factory just beside the zoo in “Hainzenberg”. The guided tour takes about 2 hours all.
Direcly next to the local cheese dairy museum there’s a vast animal enclosure with fallow deer, red deer, roe deer, chamois, ibex, wild sheep, small game and many small animals. The visit to the zoo is an unforgettable experience especially for children.

Hintertux glacier
Fresh powder snow from September until May and extra large ski pistes promise limitless ski fun on altitudes of 1,500 m to 3,250 m. Austria’s only year round ski resort offers winter sports enthusiasts 60 perfectly groomed, snow-secure piste kilometers in all difficulty levels 365 days of the year.
The Spannagel Cave (entrance directly under the “Spannagelhaus” is Europe’s highest altitude publicly accessible cave and a very worthwhile day trip destination for families with children. With a measured length of around 12.5 km it is the largest rock cave system in the Central Alps, 500 metres of which can be experienced by visitors on a guided tour.
Achensee
The Achensee is Tirol’s largest lake – crystal clear and emerald green, a fjord between the Karwendel and Rofan mountains. The Karwendel, which frames the lake to the west, is Europe’s largest nature reserve. A walk around lake Achensee is very rewarding – the walk around the lake can also be completed by ship. Or take a ride on the romantic steam cog railway.

Learn everything about origin, significance and application diversity of the Tiroler Steinöl® (shale oil) and experience the history of a small family business in the Karwendel mountains.
Schlegeis reservoir
Enter the depths of the Schlegeis dam interior: Explore the interior of the 725 m long and 131 m high Schlegeis barrage wall. The one hour tour of the Schlegeis dam takes place from June to October, between 10.00 and 16.00 every hour on the hour.
The reservoir is also a good starting point for numerous walks, hikes and alpine tours into the Zillertal alps. The “Pfitscher Joch” which is already on Italian territory is approx. 1.5 hours walk.
Tratzberg castle
Inventive adventure tours take the visitors through Tratzberg’s 500-year-old history. There’s special guided tours for children: Little guests experience a fairy-tale-like and exciting tour for children. They are meeting a real knight and are looking for our castle ghost Tratzi and his mouse lady Adele, who are getting into all kinds of mischief. In the end they are experiencing an exciting quiz and with some luck might even win a prize.
Silver mine Schwaz
The Classic Tour (90 minutes) shows you the hard life of underground mining 500 years ago and allows to take a look at the role Schwaz played on the scene of the Medieval world.
Zeiss planetarium Schwaz
A planetarium is a multimedia entertainment, cultural and educational institution that has its special attractions for each profession and age layer. Unlike an observatory, where the night sky can be viewed directly through a telescope, a planetarium in the starry sky is produced artificially. This is done with the help of precision optical instruments, effect projectors, audio and video systems, which are located in the projection dome with 8 meters in diameter. The daily and annual course of the stars , planetary movements and the events that take place over us in the cosmos, are presented and explained in the fully air-conditioned domed hall.
Silver town Schwaz
Schwaz is the capital of our district. Mining was flourishing many years ago. A four-aisled hall church, Gothic altars the Franciscan monastery with a remarkable late Gothic cloister, the Fugger house, the Handelshof, the ancestral home of the Earls of Freundsberg.
Wolfsklamm gorge Stans
Wild, romantic rocky mountains, thundering waterfalls, emerald green water and a superb panorama in healthy mountain air will leave those who walk to the Wolfsklamm with an unforgettable impression. The Wolfsklamm, with its 354 steps and wooden bridge is probably the most beautiful of its kind in the Alps. A hike through the gorge is an adventure which no visitor can miss out on. It’s worth taking a closer look at this mountainscape which has retained much of its originality.
Swarovski crystal world
Swarovski Kristallwelten (Swarovski Crystal Worlds) was opened in 1995 to mark the centennial anniversary of the company’s founding. To this day, this beloved attraction has brought moments of wonder to over twelve million visitors from everywhere in the world.
Tirol farmstead museum
History comes alive at the unique Tirol Farmstead Museum in Kramsach: 14 relocated heritage buildings, authentic farmhouses from all parts and valleys of Tirol that have been meticulously preserved and restored for future generations to enjoy, adorn the site, all filled with interesting artefacts recreating a bygone era. Since 1974, visitors have been welcomed for tours of the restored farmhouses including period outbuildings, depicting the history of rural Tirol.
Step back in time into days gone by – a time of log homes, sawmills, gristmills, blacksmith shops, threshing floors, and chapels. Stroll through the historic one-room schoolhouse and experience life as it was “back then”. Special events and guided tours that recreate and preserve the rural heritage of Tirol are available. In the warm summer months, the museum also offers educational programs for little ones, fun and educational for the whole family.
Brixlegg
Brixlegg is located at the entrance to the Alpbachtal valley in 534 m above sea level and has a population of 3,000. The pretty village is the oldest summer resort in North Tirol. In addition to numerous attractions, Brixlegg offers guests theatre performances, brunch, music concerts, craft courses and numerous events such as Perchtenlauf and Christmas markets with Tirolean atmosphere.
Innsbruck alpine zoo
The Innsbruck alpine zoo is Europe’s highest elevation zoo (727 m). More than 2,000 animals of 150 species invite you to an eventful visit in the fauna of the Alps. Peer into habitats of animals native to the area, including ibexes, brown bears, otters, golden eagles and wolves, at the Alpine Zoo high above Tirol’s capital Innsbruck. The zoo is unique in that it focuses solely on the animals that inhabit the Alps.
Ambras castle
Picturesquely perched on a hill high above Innsbruck, Ambras Castle is the focal point of a delightful English landscape garden with duck pond and playground. First mentioned in a document in the 11th century, the castle passed into the hands of the Habsburg Dynasty in 1363. Archduke Ferdinand II had the medieval Ambras castle converted into the present Renaissance castle to display his collections of world-wide fame.
Olympic town Innsbruck
Tirol’s capital is a living treasure house of history and culture. Architectural gems like the famous “Golden Roof” and the Imperial Court Palace lurk around every corner of the old town. Stroll around the quaint alleys and streets to take in the atmosphere of this magical town, and you will find a host of exciting historical landmarks, parks and gardens, inviting sidewalk cafés and restaurants, and world-class shopping opportunities.
Kufstein
Kufstein’s most famous sight, the remarkable Kufstein fortress, towers high above the town and serves as a venue for a variety of cultural events. The fortress can be accessed by a panorama gondola. Attractions include the interactive local heritage museum and the world’s largest outdoor organ, named the Heroes’ Organ. The sound created by this magnificent organ can be heard throughout the town.
Hall in Tirol
Hall is a popular town for sightseeing and shopping with the historic Old Town from the 12th and 13th centuries. Particularly interesting are the Mint Tower (independent coinage by hammer or spindle embossing possible), Hasegg Castle, City Hall, the City Museum, and the Museum of Mining .
Koenigsleiten
Koenigsleiten is a quiet spot near the Krimml waterfalls and the Großvenediger. Visit the highest observatory and planetarium in Europe. In warm weather you have the opportunity to search the sky for stars after dark.
Riedel – Glass blowing works
Riedel Glass Blowing Works in Kufstein is an interesting destination where visitors get in close contact with the 2,000-year old art of glass blowing. At the famous glass manufacture, skilled glass-blowers still use the ancient mouth-blowing method to create the world-famous handcrafted Riedel glasses and decanters. The “Sinnfonie” multimedia show takes visitors on a magical journey through the world of handcrafted Austrian glass artistry and to a wealth of sensory perceptions and enjoyment.
Glass town Rattenberg
The medieval center of Austria’s smallest town is full of revitalized townhouses, cobbled streets and alleyways and dotted by specialist glass shops. Rattenberg is famous for its atmospheric Advent Market, where the lovely, historic pedestrian precinct will exclusively be lit by candles, torches and open fires on the Saturdays during Advent Season.
